For the 2025–2026 academic year, the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has started a USTM Special Scholarships for 500 North East Students 2025. The following categories apply to the scholarships: Merit-based (250), sports accomplishments (50), cultural accomplishments (50), children of tea garden workers (50), Majuli and Dhemaji residents (20), families of martyrs or freedom fighters (20), children impacted by conflict and violence (20), children of media personnel (20), and orphans or single girls (20). According to the Director of Admissions & Training and Placement Division, state board toppers from North-eastern states would receive 100% of the scholarships. Objective of USTM Special Scholarships
The objective of USTM Special Scholarship is to provide Scholarships to the academically advanced students. Many of the students will receive 100 percent scholarship under this program. Students from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) can get up to 50% of the scholarships under a merit-cum-means basis, while those who score 85% or higher would receive 30%. Additionally, students who score higher than the 60th percentile on national exams like JEE (Mains), GATE, CAT, MAT, and XAT, excel in sports or cultural events recognized by organizations like SAI, IOA, FISU, SGFI, or the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, students with physical disabilities (eligible for a 30% scholarship), and students from areas affected by violence (eligible for a 15% special scholarship) are eligible for scholarships.
