Eligibility Criteria

Here we have provided the eligibility criteria for the scholarship for disabled students, which are as given below:

  • Only Indian students can apply for this.
  • Students must have 40% or more disability as told in the Disabilities Act 2016.
  • Disability certificate must be shown, which is given by the right officer.
  • Aadhaar-based biometric is compulsory for this.
  • UDID card or UDID enrollment must be there.
  • Parental income should not be more than Rs. 8 lakh in one year.
  • Only two disabled children from one family can get it, but if the second child is a twin then both can get.
  • Scholarship is only for one year in one class, if the student fails, then it will not be given again for the same class.
  • Students taking this scholarship cannot take any other scholarship or stipend together.
  • It is only for regular Graduate or Postgraduate Degree or Diploma in top colleges told by the government, not for distance, part-time or weekend courses.
  • Scholarship is given for one year only for one class, if student fails and repeats the same class then it will not be given again for that class, but if student passes and goes to next class then scholarship will continue.
  • The list of top colleges is given by the Department and if any change happens in the list, it will be told by government.

  • Admission and tuition fees are paid by government up to Rs. 1.90 lakh every year which helps students to study without worry of big fees.

Selection Process

The selection process for this scholarship for disabled students includes:

  • Forms are filled online on National Scholarship Portal before the last date given.
  • All documents like photo, disability certificate, income proof, fees receipt, Aadhaar and marksheet must be uploaded while filling.
  • The college where student studies should be registered on portal and will verify all the student details.
  • If student belongs to one state but studies in other state, then the home stateโ€™s Education or Welfare Department will check and approve the form.
  • State-wise slots are fixed by checking how many eligible forms came from each state and also how much disabled population is there in that state, both are counted together for fair distribution.
  • Merit is decided by the disability percentage written in the disability certificate. But for Specific Learning Disability, since exact percentage is not written, it is always counted as 40%.
  • If two students have same marks, then the older student will be selected first.
  • After checking everything, the final list is made on National Scholarship Portal and scholarship is given as per the state-wise slots.
